Berlin progressive firm Magma Architecture designed the shooting range for the London 2012 Olympic Games, which will host the 10, 25, and 50 meter events. The aptly-titled “Olympic Shooting Venue,” located in London’s Woolworth district, is actually composed of three tents, all easily disassembled and completely moveable. The tents are composed of a double layer PVC membrane, supported by steel trusses, featuring circular protrusions throughout. These ‘nodes’ act as ventilation points for the structures, as well as entry and exit areas. The tents will be home to the Olympics, as well as the Paralympics in September. Source: designboom |
