Nike Air Force 1: 30 Years of Force Popsicle Mold

During tinkering phases in the development of Nike‘s Lunarlon sole, designers from Nike Innovation Kitchen increased stability in the mold by freezing it. After adjusting their approach to this new form of sneaker technology, the end result indicated that experimentation from the Beaverton camp was a key part of their innovative creations. While availability at a retail level may not be slated, Nike has commemorated one of the brand’s more surprising yet important research landmarks by immortalizing the iconic Air Force 1 sole in Popsicle form.

atmos x New Balance 996 “FACE OFF 3”

Japanese retailer atmos has teamed up with New Balance for the third in their “Face Off” series of collaborative shoes, this time reconsidering New Balance’s ever-popular CM996 model. For this rendition of the shoe, atmos took advantage of various materials that change colors when exposed to ultraviolet rays. The result is a variable palate of colors that force the wearer to observe the dual nature of things. Always conceptually strong, the shoe’s form is completed by custom-designed graphics on the tongue and insoles. This collaboration also includes a T-shirt and sweatshirt, all of which are available on atmos’ web store

Converse teams up with Hong Kong-based Subcrew to produce a special brick-red Chuck Taylor All-Star. In addition to the white rubber outsole and the matching red eyelets threaded with round laces, Subcrew’s logo appears near the hi-top’s heel. Easily the most distinguishing feature of these hi-tops is the Common Projects-esque code stamped as “23 1 20 19 3 2012″ on the tongue as well as inside the upper of the shoe. Decrypted, the alphabetical code is interpreted as “We Are The Sub Crew 2012.” The launch of theshoes will be celebrated on November 26, with the shoes themselves hitting retail on November 30 at a cost of $1,100 HKD (approximately $142 USD). They can found at the Harbour City Converse Store, Dahood andUnity Pop-Up in Hong Kong, and at Unity in Macau

Guerrilla Fashion: The Story of Supreme

Fresh off The New York Times comes a story about Supreme that presents its cult standing in unequivocal terms. This lengthy piece describes the long lines and global fan base, limited runs, elitist skate sentiments and anarchic heritage of the 18-year-old New York brand, calling it a “company that plays hard to get.” It then sits down for a little tête-à-tête with “press-shy” founder James Jebbia, presenting a rare and insightful interview. Read the full article here.
“PUT your hands up, let’s go!” barked the gangly young man in the red varsity jacket, his sneakers planted atop a bike rack on Lafayette Street in SoHo, as he produced a wad of crumpled bills from his slumping jeans.
A crowd of hundreds of street kids flashing a dandy streak in their camo and their leopard print had been assembling like a slow-motion flash mob since the night before — ever since word trickled out that the 2012 spring-summer collection for Supreme, the cultish street-wear brand, was about to drop. In certain urban circles, a new Supreme line qualifies as an event, on par with a new iPhone. Fans camp out on folding chairs and sleeping bags.
The die-hards, however, can get restless, so to break the tension, the young man, adopting the role of hip-hop hype man, decided to “make it rain” — to use a strip-club parlance. As ASAP Rocky’s rap anthem “Peso” thumped from a car parked nearby, he sent bills fluttering over the whooping crowd before tumbling into a triumphant crowd surf

They believe all things happen for a reason and are more than pleased that things played out the way they did. They have now got some big projects and updates in the works, so stay tuned in the coming year

Hurt You Bad Goes from Graffiti Blog to Print Magazine

Hurt You Bad, one of the premier authorities on graffiti in Britain, has successfully transitioned into the realm of print after establishing an online presence for several years. The entity, which has documented graffiti and its various artistic subsidiaries for over 10 years, released the first issue of their print magazine recently. Titled “Concealed Intentions,” this issue features work from the infamous SMART Crew, Will Tuck, Sean Vegezzi and many more. The magazine also documents the travels of several writers from around the world, all of which contribute to a cultural collage that depicts graffiti’s current state of affairs. The magazine is curated by an innately mysterious and diverse, necessarily ‘other,’ group of individuals, which will certainly make for an interesting artistic stimulus.
