For four years, Fashion’s Night Out has been an inspired union of retailers, shoppers and industry professionals all over the world. With events held in major metropolises from New York to Hong Kong, 2012′s FNO surpassed those of previous years in scope and quality. Implemented to jump-start a flailing U.S. retail economy, the event has been pivotal in reestablishing an interest in shopping and the celebration of style around the world. In New York, Fifth Avenue was rampant with stylish passersby, DJs, free-flowing liquor and blinding flashbulbs. Among the highlights was the Pharrell-hosted Billionaire Boys Club party, which featured a special appearance by Bee Line collaborator Mark McNairy, along with exclusive FNO products that included a range of Don C’s NY hats. Elsewhere, Dior had photographer Arthur Elgort taking customers’ portraits while jeffstaple talked shop at the Apple Store, and GQ showcased a 50-strong brand selection in conjunction with the Nordstrom Men’s Shop. As if to attest to FNO’s success this year, there were more than a few crowd control barriers hoisted to contain the droves of fashion-minded patrons though, at the end of the day, perhaps the most telling indicator of the night’s achievements was at the tills. There were more than a few happy retailers at the event’s close, enough to suggest more Fashion’s Night Outs for years to come. |
